What are ‘essential oils’?

They are plant extracts used in aromatherapy and also used to fragrance the home or freshen the laundry.
They are also used as a natural scent in cosmetics and other natural products.

What are ‘surfactants’?

Surfactants [or surface active agents] are compounds
that lower the surface tension between a solid and a liquid,
or 2 liquids [ie acting as a wetting agent], and are the main ingredient in modern day laundry detergents,
dishwashing liquids, shampoos and the like.

Our Ingredients

Other than our pure NZ water, we list the ingredients that go into our products, and their purpose, as below:

Aloe vera powder

with anti-bacterial properties, and is used in skin care products as an anti-irritant and as a moisturiser, and good for hair conditioning.

Aniseed essential oil

with a distinctive liquorice slightly spicy smell, is used as an odour eliminator and with calming and aphrodisiac properties.

Bees wax

a natural wax used in skin care products as a a moisturiser and provides texture.

Bergamot essential oil

a citrus extract with anti-septic and analgesic properties, known to keep the skin youthful and with a distinctive soothing citrusy fragrance.

Cetostearyl alcohol

a mixture of plant based fatty alcohols used as an emulsion stabiliser and foam boosting surfactant.

Cinnamon essential oil

a bark extract and natural health tonic, helps revive the skin and fights infection, with a definitive aroma.

Citric acid

from citrus fruits, it is a pH balancer, and is used for flavouring, preserving, disinfecting or stain removal.

Clary sage essential oil

a herbaceous oil withs a subtle soft scent, known as a relaxant with anti-bacterial properties and known to stimulate libido.

Coco betaine

from coconut oil, a natural surfactant used in soaps and shampoos.

Coco caprylate

an ester from coconut fatty alcohol, is a natural emollient that smooths and softens the skin.

Coco glucoside

of vegetable origin, a non ionic surfactant and foaming agent, that also helps prevent moisture loss when cleansing the skin.

Cocoa butter

a natural stable fat containing antioxidants that melts on skin contact, of light aroma, and used to prevent rancidity and increase shelf life.

Coconut essential oil

contains essential fatty acids that nourish the skin.

D-panthenol

a skin friendly nutrient from the vitamin B family, with moisturising and regenerating properties.

Eucalyptus essential oil

used as a disinfectant and to promote skin heath and also as an insect repellant.

Frankincense essential oil

resin from the Boswellia tree, with a woody spicy smell, is a powerful astringent to rejuvenate the skin.

Geranium essential oil

with a sweet aroma, considered to enhance health and reduce feelings of stress and tension.

Glycerine

a vegetable extract, clear and tasteless, is a good moisturiser that benefits skin health.

Hemp seed essential oil

with high levels of essentials fatty acids and antioxidants, used to nourish and moisturise the skin and encourages hair growth.

Honey

bush honey is a great moisturiser that nourishes the hair and skin.

Honeysuckle essential oil

with a sweet floral and narcotic scent ; has antioxidant and astringent properties and good for skin irritations and hair conditioning.

Hydrolised silk protein

from the cocoon of the silk worm, has excellent moisture binding properties and adds lustre and body to hair.

Hydrolised wheat protein

from wheat gluten, is a hair moisturiser as well as providing better body, control and shine to hair.

Jasmine essential oil

with a fresh romantic fragrance, and with antiseptic and skin care properties.

Jojoba essential oil

used as a moisturiser to smooth and hydrate the skin.

Kawakawa essential oil

from the kawakawa tree [NZ pepper tree] used in traditional maori medicine to treat wounds and skin conditions, and also used as a cleanser and moisturiser.

Lavender essential oil

known for its healing, antiseptic, sedative and soothing properties.

Lemon essential oil

cleans and freshens.

Lemon grass essential oil

a popular fresh scent, astringent, with anti-bacterial and skin toning properties.

Lime essential oil

good for the skin with antioxidant properties.

Mango butter

used in lotions for its skin moisturising and protective properties, with a slightly sweet aroma.

Patchouli essential oil

from herb leaves with a complex intoxicating slightly sweet and musky-earthy and relaxing aroma and helpful for skin conditions.

Peppermint essential oil

with a clean sharp cool and uplifting aroma.

Peru balsam

aromatic with healing and mild antiseptic properties and also delays evaporation.

Pine essential oil

from the pine needle, with a strong aroma. Helps prevent skin itchiness and fungal infections.

Pink grapefruit essential oil

high in skin care acids, and with cleansing properties, with a refreshing light uplifting fragrance.

Potassium sorbate

is a salt chemical preservative that is odourless and tasteless.

Rosemary essential oil

with distinctive fragrance, and anti-ageing and antioxidant properties ; also helps stimulate hair growth and has preservative properties.

Sandalwood essential oil

with a fresh romantic fragrance, and with antiseptic and skin care properties.

Shea butter

a natural skin care product, soft and pliant with pleasant aroma, used in soap production.

Sodium bicarbonate

a salt also known as baking soda, used as a cleansing and exfoliating agent and also neutraliser of odours.

Sodium carbonate

a salt also known as washing soda, is a water softener that also used to remove grease and stains when laundry washing.

Sodium cocoyl isethionate

from coconut fatty acids, its a mild surfactant and cleansing agent creating a dense creamy lather, and will impart softness to the hair.

Sweet orange essential oil

a popular familiar scent that promotes cheerfulness and skin radiance, with vitamin C that helps the body’s immunity.

Sweet pea essential oil

safe for the skin and with a light delicate fragrance.

Tangerine essential oil

with a sweet refreshing and uplifting aroma, and known for its cleansing properties.

Tapioca starch

aids in the removal of excess water.

Tea tree essential oil

with natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, helps stimulate the immune system, and helps reduce bad odours.

Tumeric essential oil

a pungent oil used as an antioxidant, antiseptic and insect repellant, that also improves the body’s immunity and is good for the skin.

White vinegar

from acetic acid and water, is a great cleaner dissolving soap scum, hard water and other stains.

Wild flower essential oil

a powerful blend of 100% pure therapeutic essential oils.

Xanthum gum

created from sugar, and used as a thickener or stabiliser.

Ylang ylang essential oil

oil from the flower, with a sweet and relaxing fragrance, used for wound healing and insect repellant, and to enhance libido.
